Izyum

We came together in ceremony of the Town of Greenwich and Izyum sister cities. This was a special moment that solidified our solidarity with Ukraine, and an everlasting relationship with ongoing cultural and educational exchanges. That said, Izyum was librated from Russian occupation in September, 2022, at which point 100% of their industrial infrastructure and 80% of their residential buildings were destroyed. As part of our sister city effort, we hope to fix the damage that was done in Izyum.

The USA for Ukraine team created this video to showcase Izyum before, during and after the war so that our community can truly understand what we are fundraising for and our next step efforts. Together we can, and we will help the families come back home and restore the once vibrant Izyum.

On March 17th, 2023, we officially announced the sister city effort between Izyum and the Town of Greenwich with First Selectman Fred Camillo, State Senator Ryan Fazio, CT Senator Richard Blumenthal, Izyum’s Mayor Valerii Marchenko (virtually) and other local representatives.

We look forward to restoring Izyum back to what it was before occupation through our upcoming fundraising efforts.

We announced a sister city relationship between the town of Greenwich, CT and the city of Izyum, Kharkiv region. Later, the Izyum City Military Administration of the Kharkiv countersigned the official proclamation of the twin city relationship that we brought from the USA signifying and solidifying solidarity.

We have delivered medical supplies, food and water filtration units to their community.

USA for Ukraine received a list of requested items form Valerii Marchenko, the Mayor of Izyum and we are working towards to getting them what they need.

Current needs of the city of Izyum

Specialized municipal equipment:
- Truck mounted tower with a lifting height of 25-30 m;
- A grader weighing 13-16 tons.
Materials for the reconstruction of utilities and roofs in apartment buildings:
- To restore water supply systems in multi-apartmet residential buildings: plastic pipes with a diameter of 20 mm and 25 mm, water supply components (fittings, taps etc.);
- To restore heating systems in apartment buildings: plastic pipes with a diameter of 25 mm, 32 mm, 40 mm, radiators, heating components (fittings, taps etc.);
- To restore the roofs of the residential buildings: slate, metal tile (metal profile), board 25 mm x 4 m, rafter - 50x150 mm x 4 m, soft roofing material for flat roofs (soft roof), mastic.
